Energy transition at Camp Grinsby

Bureau 9000 guides Staf in its energy transition to an energy-neutral campsite, and our Energy Management Platform is Energis.Cloud used to provide data-driven energy advice.

Energis.Cloud endorses energy transition at Camp Grinsby

At Camp Grinsby, Staf Coppens’ campsite in Årjäng, Sweden, our partner Bureau 9000 is advising Staf. Indeed, his dream is to make Camp Grinsby an energy-neutral, sustainable campsite.

The Context

From Belgium to Sweden, our energy management software is being used successfully in Årjäng. In fact, it’s Sweden the country that meets more than half of its energy needs from renewable sources.

Bureau 9000 (a study and energy consulting company) contacted Staf. Then, it soon became clear what added-value they could bring.

The Goals

Definitely, the primary objective was to help Camp Grinsby become an energy neutral campsite.

To achieve this goal, Bureau 9000 relied on Energis.Cloud. Furthermore, Energis provided data-driven advice on energy transition through operational improvements. In addition, this prioritized energy efficiency initiatives and conservation measures like the installation of PV, heat pumps, solar paneling, EV charging stations.

The Strategy

There was the need to measure, verify and monitor detailed consumption and all energy-saving measures. This is where Energis.Cloud makes the difference.

To successfully implement energy management, we took the following steps.

  • Choice of wireless communication technology. Due to the nature of the site and geographical location, it was quite a challenge to do energy monitoring properly. The most economical and qualitative solution was to choose wireless communication.
  • But Staf needed to know not only how much energy was being used. He needed to know also how this translated into financial costs, CO2 emissions, and where energy savings could be made.

The Result

The collaboration between Bureau 9000 and Energis.Cloud made it possible to:
  • Measure each campsite individually, indeed showing where abnormal consumption is coming from.
  • Share insights with Camp Grinsby guests to better inform them of potential unnecessary consumption.
  • Enable Staf Coppens and his guests to take immediate action when inefficient or excessive energy consumption is detected.

“By taking joint action, we can minimize our carbon footprint, and make sure we use the energy we consume wisely. I think that in recent decades too little thoughts has been given to it and that now we have the moral obligation to just do that, to be informed, and to ensure that we make the right decisions in the future.”
